LUCAS COWHERD | SENIOR

I always love photographing seniors who bring a piece of themselves to the session- especially when that piece is a banjo! From the moment we started this session, Lucas was completely cool and confident in front of the camera, but something so magical happened when he threw that strap around his shoulder and started plucking. I don't know if there's a camera on the market with a high enough shutter speed to capture just how quickly his fingers glide around that instrument. Instantly hearing that it was out of tune, Lucas adjusted and then continued to provide us with a personal bluegrass concert as I raced around, capturing every angle of him being completely in his element.

As he threw the case behind his back and started down the train tracks, I felt like the whole thing was giving some serious "Man of Constant Sorrow" vibes. His response to that comment?

"I can play that."

And he did, of course.

I can see how much his personality shines through in these shots because he was truly just doing what he loves to do. And looking dapper while doing it! Take a scroll and tell me if you can't hear these images too.
