Everyone knows that it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day. At least, I certainly know it because it was told to me about 5,000 times on October 24, 2015. But what about if it snows on your wedding day? Well I don’t know what it means per old wives’ tales, but I do know one thing that it means: incredible photographs.
Picture this: a sophisticated barn garbed in rich maroons and golds, real evergreens placed throughout the property, an outdoor fireplace roaring in the chilly air, stringed lights twinkling everywhere, fire pits for s’mores and photo ops, and then, the cherry on top of a perfect winter wedding: a consistent sprinkle of snowflakes, all. day. long. As a passionate snow-lover, I was so excited that I didn't even know I couldn't feel my fingers. I guess the love that radiated between these two was enough to keep everyone warm. Ok, that was cheesy, but it's true! I've been following Brett and Melanie's love story for a while now (Exhibit A & Exhibit B) and to say that they're crazy about each other is an understatement. They are each other's safe space. They bring out the best in each other and are constantly encouraging each other.
As lovely as their relationship is, there is one more piece to their puzzle. Not only did Melanie become a wife on 12-17-22, but a Mel Mom as well. Coming from someone who has not only the best dad in the world, but also the best stepdad in the world, I can assure you that there is no such thing as too much love, and I'm pretty sure that's what Miss Lillie has. These three are now an adorable little family and I can't wait to watch their story continue.
What a beautiful beginning to their story. All of the details of their special day had me drooling. The deep colors against the snowy air was like the most sophisticated version of Christmas' signature red and green. The ladies wrapped themselves in fur shawls and even an occasional pinecone popped up to say hello. Brett, Melanie, their bridal party, and their families were troopers out in the cold. I knew bracing the chilly air for these shots would be worth it, but even I underestimated the final results. Everyone was high-energy and giggly and the priceless, life-long memories were endless. How blessed am I to be able to put just a few of them into image form?
Thank you so much, Mr. and Mrs. White, for the perfect grand finale to my 2022 photography season.
