Chris and Shelby. Where do I even begin with Chris and Shelby? They’re like my model couple. My poster children. My frequent flyers, if you will.
It all started when Chris surprised Shelby with an engagement ring. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of photographing them not one, not two, not even three, but now four times. The most memorable session, perhaps, was their wedding day a year ago.
That’s right: the O’Neals' honeymoon stage is officially coming to an end. And to celebrate, they had a little picnic in the park, complete with a cake food fight. Shelby wore a ridiculously gorgeous, deep purple dress while Chris kept making googly eyes at his wife. They giggled and poked fun at each other. They snuggled with their pooch, Miss Hazel. They reminisced on their time dating and their first year of marriage. Yeah, I’m not sure if Chris and Shelby’s honeymoon phase will ever end.
They remind me a lot of myself and Josh. They started dating when Shelby was a freshman and tied the knot not too long after she graduated. As one hopeless romantic who said “I do” at nineteen, I’ve had many a question as to why I got married so young. My response is always, “If I could go back, I wouldn’t change a single thing. Except I would have married him sooner.”
Your best friend is your best friend. Your soul mate is your soul mate. 18 or 58, I’m so glad that God had a plan for me and Mr. Turner and I know without a doubt that Chris and Shelby can say the same. Only one year later and they’ve already created a home and a legacy of love that’s one for the ages.
Yes, these high school sweethearts have undeniable chemistry. They’re just one of those couples that are obviously meant to be together. Not to mention they’re ridiculously photogenic. What more can a photographer ask for?!
Thank you SO much, O’Neals, for letting me capture yet another milestone in your relationship. It was an honor. And, as always, a blast!
