Y'all, I've never ever been disappointed when I get to shoot a couple in love. It's honestly probably my favorite thing to photograph. That's why I was so excited to meet Sarah and Adam at Lanier Mansion in Madison. Most of the couples I meet for their engagement session are in full on puppy-love mode. It's pretty much impossible not to get some adorable shots. And while I will not deny that there were plenty of googly eyes in Sarah and Adam's session, there was something...different about them. It's taken me a while to figure it out, but I think I've finally put my finger on it.
They told me that their love story spans over three states. They explained how they met, how they fell in love, and how they ended up starting a life together in my beautiful southern Indiana, but I'm not quite buying it. You see, they claim that they met through work, but I have to believe that Sarah and Adam have known each other for much, much longer than that. They have that connection. It's the kind you see in a couple if they've been best friends since kindergarten or in a couple that's been married for 50 years, but are still madly in love. It's that kind of maturity in their relationship that makes their story just a bit fishy to me... judging by how natural and comfortable they are with each other in these images, I'd venture to say they've been in love for at least a few centuries.
It was truly magical to witness and capture. Even the sun couldn't help but shine down on the future Mr. and Mrs. Butler, despite the cloudy forecast. I have no doubts that wherever your journey takes you next, the two of you have already found your forever home in each other. Thank you for trusting me with this chapter of it.
