Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to put on a heavy formal dress or full tuxedo, get your hair and makeup professionally done, put on a pair of super high heels, then go stand directly under the Indiana sun for an hour while your family takes a million pictures of your now sweating face? Then, wouldn't it be fun to sit down (if you can) in that same tight dress and eat a full plate of pasta before going to dance all night? If you've never experienced such an evening, then you've probably never been to a high school prom.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-prom! In fact, I owe pretty much my whole life to my freshman year prom when I went on my first date with my husband. And although the ideas listed above have never made sense to me, I guess the truth is I'm just a bit sour because today's prom-goers make it look so fun and easy. When I look back on my pictures, all I see is an uncomfortable girl with braces and a half-fallen updo awkwardly smiling.
So no, not anti-prom. Just jealous.
As you begin scrolling, you'll understand why. Every amazing prom-er that I've photographed this year (see others here and here) looked like a million bucks, and this bunch is no exception. Not sure how they managed to stay looking so picture perfect in the crazy humidity. (my fifteen year old self wants your secrets!) But the best part is that they were just as fun and polite as they were snazzy.
Isabelle, Eric, Allison, Natalie, and Jack: I hope your night was a blast!
